About Backlink Anchor Text Analyzer

Anchor text is the clickable text of a backlink, and Google uses it as a strong signal about what the linked page is about. But too much of one anchor type can trigger a penalty. Our free Backlink Anchor Text Analyzer checks the balance of your anchor profile in seconds.

Enter your brand name and target keyword, then paste your anchor texts one per line. The tool classifies each anchor as Exact Match, Partial Match, Branded, Generic, Naked URL, or Other, then shows counts, percentages, and a visual distribution bar.

What a healthy profile looks like

  • Branded (30-50%): anchors containing your brand name, the most natural type.
  • Naked URL + Generic (20-40%): raw URLs and phrases like "click here" that real people use.
  • Partial Match (10-20%): variations that include part of your keyword.
  • Exact Match (under 5%): the full keyword as anchor text. Overdoing this is the classic Penguin penalty trigger.

Use the assessment notes to spot over-optimization early and steer future link building toward a safer, more natural mix.
